Our first cruise I got the soda card. I was shocked at how much they wanted so I kept track of how much I actually drink. I didn't drink nearly enough soda to make it pay off. For some crazy reason I found I really like the fruit punch, childhood memories or something.

Thanks Dave! I should have known, but am slipping I guess! ha!

Funship Freddy...that's a really good idea to take your own. I don't consider it cheap to be saving money..I consider it smart! That's dollars you can spend elsewhere!!

I don't drink enough soda's to even consider a card! That's alot of Cokes to make it worthwhile.

Annies

I think that being cheap is the reason that I can afford to go on the cruises that I do. I'm 23 yrs old and have been on 4 cruises already and have the 5th on booked. I don't spend alot of money in my everyday life and make a good living so i think there is nothing wrong with being cheap. I try to use coupons were ever i go.

This upcoming trip, I'm packing a case of pop, case of water, and a case of Vodka (40 ouncers) heheheheheh Just kidding,

But now that you all mentioned it and I do have a 6 hour wait between getting off the plane and getting onto the ship, I'll get the taxi to stop at a grocery store so I can pick up the water and Pop. Ok I love pepsi, but not 43 dollars worth, as for the vodka, I'd love to but I find the drinks not that expensive and just not worth the hassle. THOUGH, I don't blame anyone who slips on a little bottle of booze, Does the bartender want to see me Trapse up to the bar at 11pm with my flannel jammies and fuzzy slippers on Hair up in rollers just to enjoy a nightcap in my ROOM? I think not!!!! ROFL

Definitely stopping at a grocery store! GREAT IDEA!!!!!!

By the way Whickey, you work on the rigs out there? I'm in a nuclear reactor. As soon as I get home, I pretty much drive back to Toronto a week later for a Women in Nuclear conference (Gone for a week with the girls! Hubby may enjoy the break after 8 days at sea!

You do pay for bottled water. I bring a few bottles of bottle water and refill them with the water from the Buffet area when I run out of bottled water.

In 1991 I brought in 3 cases of diet soft drinks. They threw the suitcase (soft sided) and on impact several of the cans got holes in them and leaked. Today I bring in the twelve packs, they seem to carry better. Luckily, my soft drink consumption has been reduced greatly and all I need is one or two a day.

Since we will be driving to Florida for our next cruise, I plan on packing a couple twelve packs and that will be more than enough soft drinks for 3 adults for 7 nights.

Good idea people, I don't think bringing your own soda on board is being cheap either. It's being a smart cruiser. Even both my husband and I sharing the beverage card wouldn't be worth the cost. I have 2 days in Florida before I board the ship, I'm heading to the grocery store!! Thanks for the tips!!
Happy Sailing everyone!!

We have carried a 12 pack of soda and a 12 pack of diet soda on board for years. I am recently started taking a 6 pack of water as well. I just wheel it on in my pilot bag. They have only checked me once to make sure it wasn't beer.
