How much are the fountain cards for a seven day cruise?

Cruise Fanatic 10-07-2006 10:54 AM

I believe the last time my husband got one it was $29.95 plus 15% gratuity.

must have been a while back cause in early sept on carnival it was $5.50 a day adult and a cheaper unknown price (no kids) for children. the rip was after they calculated 7 days X $5.50 they added 15% tip bringing total over $40 for the week...they never checked the back of the cards for names and i got one and passed it off to my wife everywhere except the main dining room. But i am willing to be sneaky to save money...i also feel for the money they should include cokes, whats a canister of fountain soda cost?...not as much as one soda card!

What they really need is a card for the hard drinks... http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo.../icon_cool.gif

I just returned from the Valor 10/1 7-day cruise and I purchased the card for approx $43.00 which includes grats. It is well worth it, if you drink a lot of pop.

The thing with the soda cards is that they have two prices - one for adult and one for children, and of course the adult card costs more.

You really do have to drink a lot of soda to justify the adult card - more than one might think. You could buy 25 cans of soda at the regular bar price for 43 dollars.

That is a lot of soda/pop http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_smile.gif

I guess if you are a soda person and have to fly directly to the port without a grocery store stop in between it could work out.

You can always carry on some if you are able to get it there. The kids like the cards.

It is entertaining when they come up to the bar and ask for a drink and pay with their card. Especially the kids with manners, they will say may I have a coke, and thank you to the bar tender.

Do you pay for bottled water on the ships? I think not, but really don't remember for sure. I read where one lady took a case on board with her, and that seems like alot of trouble to me.

BTW, Larry, I agree with you! They do need a liquor card! I bet there is more liquor consumed than soft drinks!

Annies,

Taking a case of water or soda is not very difficult. On a recent cruise, we stopped at the supermarket on the way to the pier and bought both water and soda. Put our extra luggage tags on the cases and checked them with our luggage at the pier. Both the water and soda arrived intact. Call me cheap but it saved lots of $$$ and had readily available beverages.
