I just go out the carnival victory last week and I am already looking in the carnival.com site for a new cruise and I'm seriously considering buying it or at least paying the reservation fee and I'm asking myself if this is normal or I'm crazy?? do I need to cool down a bit??
what do you think??
Are you crazy? No! The best cure for cruise 'hangover' is to book another one! I try to go 2 times a year, but space them out. Going on my first real summer cruise next week, but probably won't cruise again this year until December.
Cas, As you know our group of 26 (No Ties Allowed) was no that same cruise with you. Weeks before we even sailed they were wanted info on next years cruise, as they have friends who want to join us. No you are not crazy, you just enjoy cruising, like the rest of us. Go for it!
I say go for it if you can afford it. I'm already shopping for one after my next one. I usually pay my deposit after tax time and then pay some a little at time. Gotta Cruise!
Here is the deal
the price,as up today, reflect the price for the route at the moment st thomas, dominica, barbados, st lucia and st martin
there are a few rumors, including the one I read here posted by mizzgee65,that they are really going to change the itinerary and I know for sure the prices will go up
so Im thinking if I book now I will have a better price than the one I will get with the new route if it comes in the future, problem is Puerto Rico at the moment is having serious financial problems so is most of a gamble than a oportunity at the moment I can afford it...
I am thinking what to do anyway if I cancel it the will return my payment???

Cas, as long as you are outside the penalty period they will refund your deposit. For a 7 day cruise that would be up to 76 days before the sail date. *Except for the Early Saver rates which are non-refundable.
That is if you are booking directly with them. If you are using a Travel Agent they may have booking or cancellation fees. If that is the case make sure to get the details in writing before giving them your deposit.
I haven't heard anything "concrete" about them adding Aruba yet. They did add it back to their itineraries last year for the Miracle. I think I posted about it. I hope they do switch it up and add it for the Victory. I liked the old Southern itinerary that had it better personally.
Cas, I've booked cruises while on a cruise. So, no, I don't think you're crazy at all. The future is uncertain for all of us. Make sure that you can afford to lose a portion of the deposit, just in case, and don't pay it off until it's due. I have to pay mine a bit at a time, but if I have to cancel, I know about it in advance of the penalty date, usually. I also purchase insurance if it's a pricey cruise.
I pray things in Puerto Rico, as well as the rest of the world, will improve. This has been a hard, long recession. I still call it a depression, but I guess that's not PC.
