I've seen alot of discussion about bringing water. Is there anything wrong with the regular drinking water on the ship?

We find nothing wrong with the ship's water. We bring a collapsible canteen and fill it for our shore excursions.
BTW Welcome to Cruise Chat.

Hi Annette66, Gary is correct. The water on the ship is better than bottled water. A lot of people believe if they pay for something it must be better. Most bottled water is nothing more than filtered tap water and the bottling companies are making a killing off of them. If you'd like to bring a couple of bottles to refill on the ship, it will be less expensive than the bottled water they sell on board. Or like Gary said, it you have a collapsible canteen. Best wishes and have a wonderful cruise!

Ship water is of wonderful quality. You can get a glass of it right out of the tap and it is as beautiful as any Evian that I have experienced. Of course, you will still be accosted by eager employees beseaching you to purchase expensive bottled water before you disembark at any port. My statements are not intended to mislead you into swimming in the pools with your mouth open. Prudence should dictate that not all the water on the ship is of the same quality.

Thanks for your help. Three kids going with us so I'm sure we will have enough to carry without worrying about cases of water!

Annette,

I "made" potable water during my Navy career - running the evaporators which distilled and purified seawater into drinking water. It was quite safe to drink and as others have said it is probably of higher quality than the bottled stuff. Also - although ships have evaporators they also take water on while in port. So it is likely that a ship leaving from the Port Of Miami has a good amount of the local drinking water in the holding tanks - although they also filter it while pumping it aboard and also sample it for any impurities or organics.

I never buy bottled water on a cruise, and have never had a problem with the tap water.

Water? http://cruise-chat.com/groupee_commo...icon_frown.gif UGH!!! Drink Gin - you won't find any bugs swimming around in there! http://images7.fotki.com/v142/photos...33/lol2-vi.gif
