I met this girl on my last cruise that used a sea miles card and she was cruising for free that cruise.. with earned credits.

I ordered my own Sea Miles card 2 months ago and have just about 10,000 sea miles already. you get a sea mile for every dollar spent and 2 sea miles per dollar when used onboard. I plan to use this card for my sail & sign on the liberty in a few weeks. I use this card to pay for everything from lunch to groceries...anything I would normally use my debit card for just to get the sea miles ... Then pay it off in full every few weeks.
So does anybody here use this card too?

Just be aware that the Solutions At Sea that you must use (you can not use your own TA or PVP) is owned by ICE. (the same folks that owned the CVC)

We have had a Carnival Rewards card since they came out years ago....so my opinion is jaded because the first card the fantastic....and sadly they have gotten worse and worse with every change.

We finally used the last of the Sea Miles and threw the card away.

50,000 points is suppose to get you $500.00 off your cruise. Well..not exactly. We got $375.00 off for 50,000 points because we had already gotten the Past Cruisers Discount.

That is the main complaint I have heard.

We are currently trying the American Express Blue Sky card which gives you $100.00 for 7,500 points off airline tickets, cruises, car rental or hotels. No annual fee. You can use whomever you want to book it. It is basically off your best deal. I don't know the interest rates because we always pay our card in full every month. Plus they gave me 30,000 points to join. We will see.

Hi Michael, All I know is the new Seamiles card is not as good as the old one. I had enough points for a free 3 day. When they changed it over, all I am eligble for now is discounts off their price. So far my past cruiser or resident rates have been better. I have 13,475. I guess if you use it like you are doing they will rack up faster. Have just been using it for booking and S&S for the double points.

Here is a link for the reward redemptions.

LHP, I am going to check to see if I can convert my regular Amex Blue to the Blue Sky. Thanks for the info.

I had applied for a sea miles card over the phone. After I had down what was needed they transfered me to the peson to "activate" my card where I was high pressured to buy Indentity theft insurance. I finally insisted enough times, through even some threats, to not buy it. When the card came I didn't activate it but called and insisted they not only remove it but take me off all the lists they put me on for "Special Offers".
Now my wife has a sea miles card from Carnival. When we booked this cruise she was going to use it but I suggested we use my card that gives a 1% cash discount on everything. I got no arguement that this was a better deal. I'll take the $14 over a few thousand worthless miles every time.

I agree the old program Carnival had years ago was much better. I used some Sea Miles points on an upcoming 2nt Carnival Miracle cruise. The conversion of points was miniscule on what was deducted off the price of the cruise for the number of points I had to give up. Since I am an agent I don't like having to use someone else. But even I like the thoughts of a free cruise if I can get one, so I tried the card.
Mike, I would be really surprised if that girl got her cruise totally free. I can't see ICE using the points for port fees/taxes. (I could be wrong). It seems everything ICE touches is tainted. I plan to shred the card.

i have been using the old version and the new card. the past cruise(aft balcony)on the triumph cost us apprx $175. port and taxes. i pay for all my personal expenses and everything at work with the card. i get reimbursed from work within 10 days and immediately deposit $ in my bank. i pay the card off completely every 10 days to avoid finance charges i find the values of the points not that great but have not found a card that does a whole lot better. anyone have a better card?

Hi jack124, Welcome to Cruise-Chat!

When you say the old version and the new card, are you reffering to the Chase Visa?
