Death of Glory passenger, while in Belize

Has anyone heard about a female passenger onboard the Carnival Glory who died in Belize?

I saw a brief news story about it on the TV. This was all I could get from it:

- She was from my hometown (Orlando, FL)
- She died during a shore excursion during the cruise while in Belize
- The shore excursion was the cave tubing; during which she drowned.
- Her husband advised the tour guide that neither he nor she were good swimmers.
- Carnival Cruise Lines suspended that particular shore excursion until they can investigate the incident.

Has anyone else heard about this? Has anyone heard more about it?

I just read that she was a 52 yo nurse and had just completed a marathon. That her children have flown to Belize to be with their dad.

We did the cave tubing in June of this year and had a wonderful time. Neither my husband nor I are great swimmers but never did we feel threatened on this excursion. The water was very shallow in many places where we actually could feel the bottom under us. We were told that areas could be as deep as 8 ft depending on the time of year. Being in the tube and having a life jacket I felt very safe. Plus our tour guide was always within feet of us.

I understand that the currents were very rough this day and many people were screaming. You cannot see much in the caves. Her and her husband were pulled under but the husband was pulled out and the wife was under for several minutes before they could find her. Carnival is investigationg and has suspended the tours till further notice. Wonder if the other cruiselines will do the same. Very sad ending to what should have been a wonderful vacation.

I just got off the legend yesterday and we were in belize the day after the ladies death. This is what people were saying on the ship, so I dont know how much of it is true...
they said the water was deeper and swifter then normal. other tours to the cave tubing were cancel because of it. The ship excursion was not canceled. People said that thewater was very swift and she was knocked unconcious when she ran into won of the cave walls, no one saw her and she drowned...That was what they were saying on our ship.
