It may seem stupid but I am having flight jitters. I fly from a NC airport to Atlanta to Tampa and the same way back. Probably only going to be on the plan 3 hours total. But I am getting worried about it just jitters of flying. I have only flew twice and the other time was last year to Hawaii. Anyone have any calming thoughts?
Also anyone know who to use as transport from Tampa Airport to the Cruise Terminal?

As Larry said, think of the cruise!! Just keep saying, in a few hours I'll be on board! SuperShuttle is usually a good bet for transport or a taxi, which will be more expensive--but usually worth it. I take crosswords with me on the plane, but usually end up talking my hubby's ear off about the cruise. Have a wonderful time--you're going on a cruise-yipee
I fly frequently and always have jitters about flying. As the other posters indicated, take your ipod and a good book. If this does not work, have a drink.
I am a nervous flyer too, and I have flown thousands and thousands of miles. I have a prescription for xanax from my physician which I use just for flying, and I take a fairly hefty (but safe, my physician assures me) dose. I am often dozing before takeoff, but even if not, it takes the "panic feeling" away. You might want to discuss this with your doctor.
Josh you said it all when you said you flew to Hawaii. That is a long haul from NY. 3 hours is like it takes you longer to get on before you are there especially all those transferes will get you on one to another and wha la you are there. Are you worried about the transferes of making them or just getting in the air?

I am not a good flyer either but I refuse to be stuck in NE PA. We just cruised from Tampa and flew from Philly to Tampa and back.
I let my logic take over. Stand at any airport and watch the amount of planes landing and taking off. There are thousands of planes doing that daily. It is safer to fly than to drive a car.
Mostly it is a control problem. If we can just let go of the need for control and realize that the pilots know what they are doing we can just sit back and look forward to the flight and where it is taking us.
Have a drink or take a relaxer if you must but enjoy the hustle and bustle of the airport as part of the excitement of the vacation.

I think of the plane ride as part of the vacation. As far as keeping calm, I keep hands in my lap not folded, get a window seat if I can, and think about the adventure ahead.
Getting from Tampa to the cruise terminal: If you booked the flight with Carnival there will be Carnival Agents, in red white and blue with a sign and clipboard. Check in with them and they will take care of everything. Or if not go to the Taxi station and just pay for the ride, they all know where it is. You can also find direction to the pier at the carnival web site to get an idea of how far the ride is and if there is other transportion. I have never done Tampa but Miami, FFL, Canaveral were all easy to find your way. Also be ready to show your passport (or photo ID) and your cruise tickets at the gate if traveling by taxi.
Josh and Amy, I hate flying. I, too, am very jittery and nervous when I fly. I always take dramamine (start with half a pill) an hour before take off. I take the other half right before boarding. It helps tremendously. It takes away my nervousness and settles my stomach. It does not make me drowsy if I take half at a time. I know some on here will say the infamous line, "we don't need no stinkin' dramamine", but for flying and nerves, it's the best.
