The day we pull into Nassau, (Sunday, March 11, 2007) the time changes (Daylight Savings Time)(I'm East Coast). How might that affect Nassau and the scheduled time of arrival in Nassau (7:00 a.m.) and an excursion I booked on my own.

No matter what, you always go off of ship time.

And the ship time is whatever time is where the ship is at. All arrival and departure times are ships time/local time so you will not have any problems at all with your excursion.

was on the Fascination in Nassau when the switch from Daylight Savings to Standard time happened. We had an extra hour sleep and left an hour earlier in the morning. The official time to switch is usually 02:00 in the morning. You will go to bed it will be standard time, and the clocks will jump forward when you are asleep (loosing an hour) and will be daylight savings when you wake up. Always go on the official ship time. If the schedule says you will arrive at 07:00 then that is the official ship time and that is what you need to schedule by.

tncruiseman, you are incorrect. the official ship time stays the same and is based on the time zone of your departure port. If you leave Miami and go to Mexico, you follow Miami time not Mexico time.

(We had a shore excursion in Grand Cayman and a fellow guest asked me what time it was - my answer was are you from the Conquest(Galveston Time) or the Victory(Miami Time)?

Dear PC GUY,
if that's the way Carnival does it, that"s the most bizarre thing I've heard in a long time. Every ship I've ever been on changed to the local time zone as we traveled.
You're telling me that if Carnival has two or three ships in a port from different departure points in different time zones, that the passengers are going to be on three different times? I'm sorry; that's ludicrous! That would be a logistics nightmare for the tour operators.
I'd sure like to hear someone else"s thoughts on this.

Yes, something strange did happen on my Elation cruise over the time change.

We did the time change on Sat. night and all was well. When we got to Cozumel the Capers said to change the time again, then Halloween night it said to change the time again. I have Capers to prove it.

I have been to Cozumel several times on Carnival, and have always been told in the past to stay on Ship's Time. Which is suppose to be the Time from the US port you leave from. Our case EST from Port Canaveral, FL.

The Crew was just as confused, as they were quoting one time and their Computers at the Bar said another. I have been blaming it on Elation since it was a re-positioning cruise. Untill I saw this.

Again, have always been told to stay on ship's time untill this last cruise. Was the craziest thing.

Were they Playing "The Times They are a Changeing" By Bob Dylan?

That sure would big a bummer if someone Missed the ship due to the time change. But then again it would be just the start of another adventure.

Showing your age there Mr. O

Not that anyone could not appreciate Dylan. But it was a screwy thing to have a time change, and then change the time to island time and back.

First time that ever happened!

I guess it was a "Slow Train Comming"

LMAO! Incorrect or not, all I know is I changed my watch per Carnival's instructions twice on the last cruise and never missed a dinner, show, or excursion. The time change was also printed in Capers. The ship arrived and departed at the posted times which (maybe by coincidence) was the time on my watch.
