We were just on a RCL ship and many people had their liquor taken away which had been packed in their checked baggage...They got it back at the end of the cruise....They scan every piece of luggage now.

I do not see anything in the link you provided that this is a new policy. When did it change and what were the changes?

My mother-n-law just had a frien try to 'sneak' scotch on board in her checked luggage & they confiscated from her luggage. She had it in a plastic bottle and was in with her make up & things. So if I were any of you trying this, I suggest that you don't.

I remember a novelty store was selling "Bar-noculars" which look like a pair of binoculars with the lens caps on,
but you can unscrew the fake eyepieces and fill it full of your favorie beverage.

I think the Cruise Lines read these boards and know all the tricks. I usually take at least a 12 pack of beer in my luggage on Carnival. It always gets to my cabin. Maybe was because it was liqour, or it was in an unidentified bottle.

Carnival has never messed with my checked luggage, other than losing my snorkel bag once. And then when they called and asked, does the bag have masks and fins with Coors Lights in them? I said yes, and all was delivered.

I don't condone it, but I figure a few extra beers for my cabin is ok, I buy enough from them A big bottle of liqour they might not take so kindly to.

I just want to remind you, if you do take any type of booze, try to remember to put it on a sealed plastic bag.
One of the cruise's we went on my significant other decided to bring some Sambucca in a plastic bottle. He packed it in his suit case (of course not in a plastic bag) by the time we received our luggage one of my evening gowns was full of Sambucca, it smelled kind of nice, but it sure was sticky, luckily I did get the Sambucca out of my gown. I can laugh about it now, but at the time I wasn't too happy.
We do bring bottle's of water and canned soda with no problems so far. I carry it in my carry on.

My Sis did the same thing, and it was legal to bring her wine. It leaked and was a mess
