My family and I are going on the Carnival Conquest in June to the Bahamas. Has anyone
Parasailed? My hubby and I chose this to do
in Nassau. Is it safe, I'm a little concerned.
As with any activity that requires a signed waiver, parasailing does have a level of risk. It isn't a huge risk but it is still present. It is usually a safe activity though, so I wouldn't worry too much. The tour operators have lots of experience. If people routinely were injured by parasailing they'd be out of business.
I agree with Dave that it does have a level of risk. Some people near where I live were killed last year when the wind changed directions and they were slammed into pier pilings. My best advice is to google it and try to find a reputable operator versus a beach hacker.
I've been parasailing on my previous 2 cruises, and loved it. There is a minimal risk I would say, but for me, it was a great experience. The incident that Dwayne described is a rare instance.
I remember one time in the States, my sister and her friend were scheduled to go. However, the tour operator decided it was too windy, and canceled the trip out.

Hi jeni751, welcome to Cruise-Chat! It sounds like a fun excursion, but not one for me. I'm too afraid of heights I don't know if you ever watch Bill Engvall, but he had a routine about parasailing in the Bahamas. Sounded just like me.
We're not trying to scare you, but please make sure it's a reputible company. We want you to enjoy your cruise.
I would only parasail IF they use a winch to ease you off the back of the boat and draw you back to the boat. Using a winch gives the operator much more control over the start and stop.
I would not do the beach start and stops that many ports use.
