my husband and I want to make our 1st cruise a short one so we are choosing the 5 Day baja mexico. We would like to leave from SD but am not finding too much info about the ELATION ship... Mainly the pools as Cabo will be our main stop and we are not beach people. Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome 1st time I am sure whatever you decide you will have a great time Cruising has to be in my opinion the best way to go when it comes to vacationing,
The Elation is one of only 2 Fantasy class ships we have not sailed on (bring that number down to ONE come Sept 1st .... marking the Ecstasy off our list!!)
We have found the Fantasy class ships easy to get around on due to their nice size. Large but not to large.
Note that all the Fantasy class ships are scheduled to go through a drydock in the next year or so to add the Evolutions of Fun. So if you were to sail this same ship say Dec. 09, it could be a very different ship.
We did do the beach thing in Cabo (went to Mangos) but we were not really impressed.
There was some shopping right at the tender pier and that was in 2003...so I am sure there is more there now.
Just remember that you can bring your own soda and bottled water...since the ship charges for that. The gym, sauna and steamroom are free even though you have to walk through the SPA to get to it. The only things the Spa charges for is if human assistance is involved. (manicures, exercise classes etc) There is free sushi every night. (saki costs extra)
Room service is free but it is customary to tip a dollar or two.
Feel free to ask any questions you may have...that is why we are here. No question is to silly.
thank you so much for your well wishes and advice. we are very excited about our trip and will absolutely make the most of it as I am sure it will not come around often looking forward to some "free" sushi!
