Did you book your cruise in the dates that Sandy provided in the first post?

Your booking falls in the Nov 7-Apr 20th window. You booked it during that time frame. It says you must have your cruise booked during the time frame, not paid in full. Therefore; you shouldn't be charged the extra.

As much as the rules are changing I think I'd pay off any balances before they impose new rules about bookings that are not paid by X date. If you can do so without it hurting the budget. If fuel continues to climb the rules will continue to change.

Here is the official statement.

This further reinforces my belief in booking early.

What it amounts to is there is nothing we can do about the fuel prices. We all complain but all we can do is conserve. If I want to cruise I will pay what is asked - my choice. Any way in less that two weeks, Lord willing, my husband and I will be on the Spirit on our way to sunny Hawaii. Aloha all.

NCL started their fuel surchage at $7 per day so Carnival is just matching the price.

I agree with Sonny. I would rather see the cruises increase $50.00pp than to impose these extra fuel charges. Same goes with UPS, Fed Ex and the rest. Just raise the rates and stop adding these fuel charges to the bill. Must have to do with taxes on them that they would do it this way rather than just raise rates. If they even think of adding a food surcharge I will re-think cruising. Just raise the rates already!

I couldn't agree more! They adjust cruise fares multiple times in one day sometimes. It could be a way of hedging the profits, and still be able to advertise at a lower fare to get bookings.

You probably won't see any more Carnival TV ads with price points like $249 for a cruise though. The fine print disclosures would take up too much space. I just hope they get their act together about this entire matter.
