First time cruiser - travelling with kids - what to wear?

Hi - I am a first time cruiser and hubby and I will be travelling with our kids. My son is 10 and hates dressing up - anything with a collar bugs him and pants that are not elastic waist drive him crazy. I am wondering what he can get away with for the formal night? If I put him in a button-down short sleeve shirt and plain black pants (the shirt will be un-tucked I'm sure) - will that suffice? We are cruising on Carnival Glory - 7 days. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi there...Yes, children as long as they are cleaned up and not in shorts or jeans will be just fine. You will find there are one extreme to the other w/formal night. Tuxedo's and ball gowns to just casually dressed up and everyone blends in. My husband and I don't go overboard and we seem to blend in just fine. Suit coat and tie for my husband and I usually opt for something black but not overly dressy (a skirt or whatever) and it is fine.
When are you going on the Glory? We leave on the 28th out of Port Canaveral on the Glory.

"Formal" night dress suggestions are usually pretty much relaxed when it comes to kids. The clothing you described for your son will be just fine. Let him be comfortable, but in clothing you won't mind seeing in photographs taken that night.
