How strict are they when they mention on the excurions a specific age range. My son is 1 month shy of their age limit. Has anyone ever run into this?

Depends what the excursion is. If your son is a mature age of the limit I don't think they would require proof of age, however as a parent you would make the decision of the danger of the thing you are doing. They have limits for a reason.

I just tried scheduling an excursion and it wouldn't let me. Carnival stated it was for insurance and safety purposes. No problem. I will keep looking for an age appropriate excursion.

teachabcdee... they usually adhere to the requirements, as you found out. After all, even if you slide your son's age a little, Carnival is already aware of his birthdate when you booked your cruise with the information you gave. A couple ahead of us in line at the excursion desk last month were denied a certain trip because of age requirements. I'm sure it's for liability purposes.
