I'm a first time cruiser, and I booked our cruise with the airfare included. I just got the tickets and the flight that Carnival selected lands very close to embarkation time.

We're flying from Detroit to Miami (via Northwest) with an arrival time of 1:31 pm. Embarkation is from 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm, so that really doesn't leave a lot of time in case of delay, etc.

Have other people used Carnival to select their airfare and had this occur. What happens if there is a delay? Am I just being overly nervous?

This is why I always try to go down the day before a cruise. I can understand your concern. If you were to be delayed it would be cutting it close and be a bit stressful. However; the cruise lines deal with this all the time. Since you booked your air through them, your transfers are included from the airport to the ship. They will be waiting for you and get you to the ship as quickly as possibly.

I understand your concern as well. I agree with Cruise Fanatic about going down a day early. Cruise Fanatic also makes the point about the ground transportation being included. They will be aware of any delays. They will not cut off embarkation strictly at 3PM if there are guests on the way from the airport.

You could be as late as 2:30PM without any issue at all with the ground transportation.

Thanks for the reassurance and for the hotline number. I plugged it in to my mobile phone, but I'm really hoping I won't have to use it.

I definitely will be requesting to go down a day early the next time I book a cruise. That way I won't have unwelcome surprises when I get my tickets next time.
