I am booked on the Glory for 09/29/07 through VTG Singles cruise. I booked 4A guaranteed but received my cabin assignment (upgrade to Cat. 4D) at least 6 weeks ago which would be 2 1/2 months before the cruise. Since this is a large group (150+) with a close relationship with Carnival, the TA told me that Carnival will upgrade us before anyone else on the ship. When I saw that my cabin had been assigned, I looked it up on the deckplan. Since I was very happy with its location, I called VTG and told them to advise Carnival not to upgrade me any further unless they were going to give me a balcony
(not likely, I am solo in the cabin). I didn't want to chance losing my 4D cabin which is Deck 4 midship to a Cat 5A which would be Deck 1 or 2 very aft or very forward.
When I booked the Liberty on my own, I was assigned a cabin approximately 2 months out. It was a mini upgrade from Cat. 1A to Cat 4A. I ended up trading that upgrade in for some OBC. My reservation was put back to 1A guaranteed. I was finally assigned a Cat 1A a few days before the cruise. I was in Cat 1A cabin no. 1426 which was a great cabin. It was on Riviera Deck aft, right around the corner from the aft elevator bank which takes you right into the buffet. Very quiet location. The cabin had one bed on the floor and another in the ceiling but was as large as a Cat. 4. Therefore, I had loads of floor space. The reason why this cabin only had 1 bed on the floor was because of the shape. This is the case with most Cat. 1A's. They tend to be the odd shaped cabins. They are great for solos, kids, or young cabinmates if one doesn't mind using the upper bunk.
