LHP, I just did a similar search and came up with sailings through Apr of 2010 from NO but nothing yet from Mobile. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I'm sure once they determine what ships, if they expand the Port of Mobile to accommodate a different ship, and set itins for 2010 they'll show up soon. It's not unusual for sailings not to be released 18 months out or occasionally later in some circumstances.

Dave I don't know anything but the rumor mill that always circulates. I haven't heard any concrete plans for an expansion or any votes to fund such a project. I do hope the rumors pan out for a change, Holiday can't last forever, they'll need a solution for the long term if they're going to keep that port in play. I certainly hope they do.
You know the saying "If you buid it they will come?". That's not always the case. The Port of Houston did a 10 year expansion and included a new $81M cruise terminal capable of berthing 3 ships, even mega ships if available. After all the trouble and expense, they'll have the terminal finally ready this summer and no takers. A brand new modern cruise facility with no ships! Wow, talk about poor planning. I hope they can get some ships in here at some point, here's the article... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/5784424.html
Holiday has been quite popular in Mobile though, although they may need to have a special dinner menu just for that ship - with collards, chicken-fried steak, fried green tomatoes, etc. The draw is definitely southerners.
BTW, I am not dissing anyone with my menu suggestions - I'd love to see collards and CFS on the menu! Pinto beans and corn bread too.
Neil- That's a slightly different situation. The Port of Houston is further fromt he gulf than Galveston where the ships were already operating out of with a very usable port facility and cruise terminal. The Port of Houston's expansion was not needed. In Mobile, they only need to enlarge the turning basin to allow a larger ship to dock.
Much easier to do without the threat of an "already available" cruise terminal.

We did one cruise out of Houston, back in 1999 when the Norwegian Sea was there. Not sure if the "new" port is in the same place but it was a painfully long drive from/to the airport and I recall other issues dealing with navigation from a port that far inland to the open waters of the Gulf.

Dave: That is the first thing I thought of.
Sept will be our first time out of Galveston, but I have read on the boards for years about the "distance compliant".... I thought they would jump on Houston!!
