After dealing with CCL and RCCL for months planning for my honeymoon, and getting "hooked up" with great rates (i.e., friends and family, past guest, etc..)

Now after much going back and forth i have seen that you must check rates weekly because rates change so frequently.. i have saved over 700.00 just calling the cruise line directly and they change the $$ of the reservation to the lowest price, you can only do this before your last payment date.

The cheapest TA i've seen is Crucon.com they have great specials.. However, I do not go with TA's because if there is a problem with the Cruise company you must go through the TA and the Cruise line WILL NOT talk to you..

Anyhow, just always check for pricing and specials, i call once a week they must be tired of me already, but I saved my self 700.00

B, you're lucky you can conveniently get to ports for those last-minute deals! For those of us in the Midwest, last-minute airfares can sometimes wipe out the advantages of any such savings with the cruise line. Good luck!

Checking with the cruise lines is definately the way to go. I would recommend it to anyone. I saved another $100 just by calling on the last day before my final payment. I travel as a solo and I insist on a state room with window so every little bit helps.

Most of you think that this is the best way to purchase a cruise. You are probably not aware that it is difficult to solve any problems you may have when you do not use a travel agent. Cruise Lines would rather sell through an agent because they do not want the bother of giving complete service. It is time consuming, and travel agents are trained to deal with the un-expected problems and questions that may arise. Any further questions, contact me a

Dear cruise specialist: This is a chat board for general cruise discussion. Not an outlet to market your business. Bobby

Sorry to burst your bubble, Bobby, but it's a forum for all of us - cruise enthusiasts, cruise agents, etc. The previous post was simply offering her/his services, not forcing you to use an agent. They also make a good point. If you prefer booking direct, then do so. Those who want a little more customer service and don't want to spend hours online researching everything, use an agent.

i personally book direct, i rather go through Carnival. If i have a problem I want to solve it, and its toooo much hassle if there is a problem to go through your TA! Thats just my opinion.

So let me see if i understand you. You buy your tickets directly through Carnival and then look around for other prices. If you find cheaper prices you call carnival and and they lower your price. What kind of room do you get? Thanks for your help if you want you can email me direct at david.henson@kcc.com

thanks
Dave

So far I have saved myself about 1200.00 calling Carnival Everyday, asking about pricing, my airfare went down from 818. to 506.00 and so did my cabin. I got a 6A and so far have been moved up to a 8B, i was told I would be able to get upgrades if the price drops anymore, I have already made my final payment.

You should go onto CruiseCritic.com under Boards and look for the Carnival Board, u will see how on a daily basis , please get the cruise and air reduced or sign and sail credit and people have been moved up from catagory 6 to 11 or 12
