We leave on the 5th on our first cruise (Carnival Legend from Tampa). My husband and I have been discussing if we need to take our passports with us when we leave the ship. I would rather not but what are your opinions on this?

Don't take your original passports off the ship. Instead, bring a good photocopy as well as the contact information for the Port Agent. The latter may be found in either that day's Carnival Capers or the port information sheet available at the Purser's Desk.
Happy cruising!

Lisa is right, One thing I want to add is to leave the passport Locked up in the safe in your cabin. I have had to most wonderful stewards but you just dont ever know.
