From what I hear on the Weather Channel & our local Huntsville, AL forecasters, Houston & Galveston dodged the bullet. There seems to be some flooding on the west side of Galveston but as far as I can determine the cruise terminals are OK (anyone else with additional info please post...
The even better news is it seems that Rita was not nearly as devastating as katrina! It came ashore on the TX/LA border
Rugbycowboy...you are closer to the action than I - what are you hearing?

From what I have heard, most of Galveston is without power, and there were several fires. A lot of trees blown down, but they did escape the worst. I haven't heard anything about the terminals. I am keeping my fingers crossed. We leave next weekend. I will keep you updated, I live in the DFW area and that is all that is on the news.
Thanks for the update Julie - looks like you and I (and my family reunion of 18+ folks! ) dodged this bullet...it would have been a major bummer to change flights again to wherever Carnival re-ported the Conquest!
Good to see that Houston & Galveston are relatively unscathed... hope all the other cities in Rita's path fair as well!
