Every cabin is assigned a "muster station" which is a location on the ship for everyone to gather in case of an emergency. Before departure, everyone is asked to go to their assigned muster station with their life jacket from the cabin, where they will give instructions of what to do in the event of an emergency. Then you'll be dismissed. Whole ordeal is maybe 15 minutes. Note: They might get annoyed if you blow the whistle on your life jacket! After the muster drill, take your life jacket back and go topside and watch the ship sail away!

The whistles aren't sanitized either, so if you are tempted to blow it remember how many other mouths have touched it.

The muster drill is mandatory, btw.

Yes, they do have the drill almost like the first thing before the ship takes off. We were on the Triump the end of April/May of this year. You are like packed sardines, so don't wear anything to warm, even though you are cool at that time.

I don't know if you have been on the Triumph before, but this was our first and we just loved it. I had read so many BAD things, but it was a good ship.

I got a rash on my first cruise from the lifejacket..didnt last long but still it wasnt pleasent.
I wait till Im told to put it on now then hike my shirt up to create a barrier.

It's the second worst part of the cruise but when it's over the fun begins nonstop....... till the first worst part of the cruise...getting dragged off the lido deck by the crew saying...MrOctober your Cruise is over Please Vacate the ship now!!

If you are worried about the life jacket, grab a hand towel from the bath in your cabin to drape around your neck before you put on the jacket.

I agree with Dave on the whistle thing.. My kids wanted to blow the whistle, lucky we were able to stop them before they did and mention that very thought.... eeewww.

the lifeboat drill normally starts the first hour of the cruise. You go to your cabin and on the back of the door shows you what muster station you are in and how to put on your life jackets. They will announce to go to your muster stations. Then when you are there the crew members will inspect your lifejackets while one of the life boats goes into the water to make sure that it is working properly. After that a head crew members goes to inspect each muster stations. When it is over you carry the lifejacket and make sure the strap doesn't trail behind you. The whole time is about 15 min to 20 min. The area can be a tight place and the elevators/stairwells will be crowded.
