Default Swimming wear
I am a female and dont really want to wear tiny bottoms in the swimming pool. So I went to the store today and got a swimming top and some swim trunks for a female. Will I be able to get in the pool with my swim shorts? I figured guys do it so why cant females wear them.

From what you describe it sounds that it would be appropriate apparel. A rule of thumb: If you can wear it in a public pool you can wear it in a ship's pool.

They just don't want people wearing inappropriate items like cut-off jeans in the pool. The attire that you are describing would be perfectly acceptable.

Yes, swim shorts are perfectly acceptable. And most likely preferred.
