We have been on Triumph twice and enjoy it, and will be on the Elation a couple of weeks before you. We are going on Oct. 3 because we want to go to Calica one more time before Carnival drops it. We love to go into Plya Del Carmen.
On our last cruise it took us about 20 minutes to board the Elation. We parked, went down the elevator checked in and were the first on the ship at 11:30.
Thanks for the kind words Jabee! I'm glad to hear that Mobile is still smooth for embarkation and debarkations too. We've always enjoyed sailing from there. With all the trouble around the world, and new ships being built.... I do remain optimistic that some ship will choose to call Mobile home in the near future. It would be even better if "specialty cruises" overnighting in Roatan or Cozumel was offered from there.
You should reconsider your dates and go with us. After visiting Roatan, you will throw rocks at Calica!

We were there last year...and enjoyed it. But, Calica/Plya Del Carman is very nice too. For us the real key, is you go to Calica on Oct. 3, or not at all as Carnival is dropping it as a Port at the same time as Mobile.
