Going on a Western Carrbian Cruise on the Legend in September...

Hi all i am new here and kind of glad i found this place my dad and i are going on a cruise in September. Have a Few Questions for our 7 day cruise how much would the soda program cost for the entire cruise? And do they have Texas Hold em in the poker room? And when we go to check in is that easy and are we going to be able to access our room right away? Thanks Everyone!

Hi Pasco08.

You don't mention what ship, but for a 7 night cruise, I think a soda package is around $42, but I'm not sure, as I haven't cruised Carnival. You would need to drink at least 3 sodas per day to have that pay off.

You don't mention your age, but in the casino, I think you have to be at least 18, if not 21. I would check your daily planner for the tournaments in the casino. Be advised, international law prohibits the casino from being open while you are in port.

You will not be allowed INTO YOUR STATEROOM until around 1:00 pm. You will be able to board prior to that and go to the public areas, but your room probably won't be ready until at least 1:00 pm. You don't mention which port you're leaving out of, but it can depend how many ships are in port, and what you mean by easy. My last cruise, we left out of Port Canaveral and the line was really long to check in on that ship on another cruise line.

Hi Pasco08, welcome to CruiseReviews! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise. The soda package is worth it if you drink a lot of soda. They will only serve you the fountain sodas and not the cans. You can use it in the dining rooms, too. There is free coffee, tea, water (not bottled), juice (in the morning), and usually some type of sweet drink (lemonade, fruit punch, etc.) available at the buffet areas 24/7. I haven't sailed on the Legend, but most ships that have Texas Hold 'em use the electronic version. I believe all of Carnival's ships offer Texas Hold 'em. MCPayne is correct about embarkation. The lines can be long, but it normally doesn't take more than an hour to board, usually less. The rooms will not be ready until at least 1pm. It all depends on the previous cruise and how early the ship was cleared.

Hope you have a marvelous time, just be warned, cruising is addictive:)

Hello,

I just got off of a cruise on the Carnival Elation this morning and the doors to the staterooms were not opened until exactly 1:30pm. Check-in was fairly easy and started promptly at 11:15 after the VIP guests checked in.

I did not do any gambling in the casino, but I am sure that the minimum age is 21 for that. It was mentioned numerous times in the Fun Times newsletter about Texas Holdem' players meeting at a certain time and they also had a tournament.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your cruise!

Brad

new to site

Hi all! I'
m new to this site and my wife and i are about to take our 3rd cruise. Our first 2 were with carnival and loved it. The Triumph and then the Valor. Our next cruise is aug 28/11 onboard the rci's Allure of the seas. Any feed back on the ship would be great, i've read lots about it but would rather hear from some more experienced cruisers. Maybe even a comparison between carnival and rci. Thanks so much! Brian

Hi Brian, Welcome to Cruise Reviews. You would want to go to the Royal Caribbean section to look for the Allure. You'll see different threads commenting on the Allure.
Our Administrator Dave just came back from the Allure.
