I'll wait for an official press release. (It's the researcher in me.) I do agree that a formula based on number of nights is more fair than number of cruises, particularly when a cruise line offers 3-4 night cruises regularly.

Well as the same "Senior Carnival Employee" that Dwayne got the original information from noted, an official press release is probably not in the near future. This was merely a survey type email to get a feel for what people thought. They are not close to making any changes yet this email survey did nothing more than stir up trouble by making people think they were changing things without any more information to go on. That makes people panic.

It was clearly stated that those that were already Platinum or above would be grandfathered in. But that is no comfort to someone who is on their 9th cruise (of say 4 or 5 day lengths) when the program changes (like my daughters who will be taken their 9th 7 day cruise this November)

Jim, you're right that rumors and research are often taken as truth, especially when discussed by someone with a relatively high profile within an organization. It's too bad the intention of the survey was not made more clear.

The intention of the survey was only to gauge people's thoughts about it. I am glad they did it so we could have some input about it. A lesson probably learned from Royal when they changed theirs barring any input from Members and the backlash that followed.
