Thanks so much Dwayne.
the cruise was so nice, as always.
I had to leave my house at 4 am to catch a plane at 6:15. I woke up sick, ran by the hsp to get some meds, they could not help me as fast as I needed because I would miss my plane, I made the decision to get medical help in Jacksonville. Plane ride was uneventful.
Then I decide to go to the ships dr and get meds, I know I would be ok since I was not contagious.
Boarded the ship by 11:15 and headed right straight to the dr...there was a sign on the door that the dr will be back at 3 pm. Oh no, now I have to make a decison to get off the ship for medical treatment or see if the dr is still on the ship and would see me...Praise the Lord the nurse said to come down they would take care of me...in and out in 15 mins and had my meds in my hand. I could finally relax.
Boarding the ship was so easy since we have VIP status. (I love that little perk). The ship was clean and I thought the food was a bit better then last time we were on the Fascination.
Loved the games, the shows and they talent show was awesome. Island Girl left the same day we did for a vacation and will go to the paradise out of Tampa when her vaca is over.
We went to the Atlantis and made a large contribution to the casino. I am still trying to figure out why Carnival stops in Freeport.
Over all it was an awesome cruise. We had a 1 A cabin that we got really really cheap. it had an upper and lower. I tipped our stewart 20 bucks to find us a roll away bed, 15 mins later it was set up in the room.
great cruise, great time all around...now counting down the days till my January Cruise!

Glad to hear they took care of you right away at the Infirmary. Also glad to hear you had a great cruise despite not feeling well to start. That is a great tip about the roll aways. Someone else told me this once as well. I tried to add a third person to my 1A once and was told they couldn't. Have seen those cabins many times on the Fantasy class and knew they could fit a roll away. Now this has been confirmed twice. Next time for Freeport give Port Lucaya a try. It's a relatively inexpensive taxi ride over. Nice area with beach and shopping. I actually think that Casino is a bit friendlier than Atlantis. Also one of the bartenders told me there was a neat place to dolphin watch close by the ship somewhere. I'll have to get the details about that.

Thanks for the report about the food. Since you were on board by 11:15 I take it there were no issues with embarkation. That is great to hear.

Gotta love the VIP boarding!

Dwayne

They may allow a roll away in a 1A for the comfort of the second person not to have to climb up and sleep on the bunk. However; that doesn't mean they will, or can, book a third person in that room. The number of third and fourth berths are controlled by the Coast Guard for Safety at Sea.

What was the illness? My biggest fear is having a gout attack just as a cruise starts.

Urinary tract infection
It cost 40 buck to see the nurse, 10 for a culture, and 10 for the meds. If I had the insurance it would not have cost a dime but it was well worth the money. after about 12 hrs I was doing so much better.

Dave my hubby has had gout in the past, he had an elderly dr tell him to never eat organ meat, pork or anything with a shell or a hull more then twice in a 7 day period and he would never have another flare up of the gout again, works for him, he has never had another attack after that advice

I struggle to keep my uric acid in check. I have a minor flare-up right now but not one of those 'I want to amputate my foot' episodes.

I'm glad the ship's nurse was able to get you fixed up.

Hi Macmom, I'm glad to know you had a great trip.

I will be on the Fascination two weeks from Monday. I will fly down the night before out of BUF via BWI. The airport in Buffalo is only 2 hours (plus any delays if any crossing the border) from my house and a lot cheaper than Toronto.

Is Thirsty Frog Red offered on the Fascination? A few moths ago there was a press release that it was so popular on the Breeze that they were going to send it to 15 other ships, or did they send it fleet wide?

Thank You.

Last I knew Thirsty Frog Red wasn't on the Fascination yet. Thirsty Frog Red is the Red Ale beer specially made for the new Red Frog Pub that came out on the Carnival Magic. The beer was so popular they ran out of it on the Magic's first cruise. They've expanded the beer to many of their ships. It's $5.50 for a 20oz pint. On the CCL Magic at the Red Frog Pub they also serve food like wings, shrimp, conch fritters, pulled pork, and more. They charge a nominal $3.33 fee.
