upgrade
 

Leaving this Saturday on the Liberty and just received a call from Carnival offering us an upgrade. We were booked in an inside cabin on the Lido deck and got upgraded to a balcony on the Spa deck for only $350. That is a savings of $500 off the current past guest price. Normally do not pay for upgrades, but what a deal. Can't wait.

I have been on 13 Carnival Cruises AND NEVER have had them call me for an upgrade.. I would propbably do it if they would call.. GOOD DEAL there on the balcony.. Being Platnium I figured they would give me a call...

Technical point...it is actually an upsell since you paid for it.

You are correct Dave, technically it is an upsell not an upgrade but what a deal. This is the second time we have received a call from Carnival a few days before our sail date.

The last time we were in an inside cabin and were offered an ocean view for $250. We did not take it because we did not feel it was worth it for a window.
This time we could not pass it up. Moving from an inside cabin to a balcony on the top deck for only $350 for the 3 of us was too good to pass on.

That's awesome 29dawgs! I'd go for it, too. Normally it's $350-$400 more per person. I know you'll love the balcony and being on the top deck. We were on the Lido deck on our cruise in December, so convenient to the pools and buffet!

Thanks Penny. We are very excited. This is our 9th cruise and never had a balcony room before. Also looking forward to trying the new Blueiguana Cantina, Guys Burger Joint, and the Redfrog Rum Bar.

Good for you 29dawgs! In 2003, I was upgraded at check-in (for free!!) from an inside cabin to a balcony on the Carnival Destiny. It was a wonderful cruise and now I can't sail in anything other than a balcony cabin. Their freebee worked, I'm hooked on paying the full fair for a balcony now :)...I suspect you will get the bug too!
