Carnival Splendor Passengers Robbed in Puerto Vallarta
On Thursday, Feb 23, 22 passengers on a cruiseline sponsored nature tour were robbed of their valuables and ID's while the ship was visiting Pueto Vallarta,Mexico. This is a very sad turn of events as one Mexican Port of Call(Mazatlan) has already been removed from Mexican Riviera Cruises last year for the same reasons! Having just taken the same cruise aboard the Splendor last week...this development is very disconcerting as We have very pleasant memories of Our visit. :(

We took a cruise on Statendam (HAL) about a year ago and stopped @ PV. Our excursion was for a tequila factory. It looked like they had many other activities @ the site. I wonder if that is the same vendor? Glad to see that Carnival will reimburse them for the losses.

Excursions in 3rd world countries are a real risk, no matter what anyone says. But, the are also a lot of fun. So there's that...

The sad part is how many people will now not go to Mexico - including my husband who informed me that Mexico is now off the travel plans - and we've cruised Mexico three times. He also said that our planned Panama Canal transit is off because of the many Mexico ports. I'm sure he's not the only cruiser thinking this.

We will not stop going to Mexico. We love it in Mexico. We just arrive home from been there and took several tours. You can get robbed anywhere. These thing happens all over the world.
