Daughter's new assignment is Victory
 

In June she will take a new assignment on the Victory out of San Juan. My wife and I have sailed from San Juan before, very nice but we have not been on the Victory. A Triumph class I believe, we sailed Triumph twice.

We are considering the repositioning cruise Jan 27 starting in San Juan and ending in Miami. Any thoughts or suggestions about the Victory or on taking a repositioning cruise. Also looking at Ocean Suite.

Repo cruises are usually fun because it is unique and I think the crew likes the change too. They often can have great prices too, especially in off-peak times like January.

That sounds like so much fun, CruiseDad. I'd love to do a repositioning cruise, I just can't find decent air fares. Of course, they'll never be decent again. Dave is spot on about great rates. I had an offer for a 13 day repo from Barcelona for $699/pp, air fare, $925/pp, just breaks my heart because I can't afford both. Oh well, I do love the Caribbean and one of these days I might just do Hawaii and the Panama Canal. I hope your daughter loves her new assignment. Did her hubby get the same ship?

Penny, like minds do think alike. I looked into the reposition cruise from tampa to barcalona, we were on board until I checked the prices to get me home. The air fare stops us every time. I would love to do on tho. I want to do panama too!

Yep Hubby is there too. Air to San Juan can't be avoided we will just have to watch for something good. I'll have enough ponts to get a free hotel so we can use that savings on the air. Arriving in Miami getting home to NH has some options, Steal a car and drive home comes to mind. LOL. An Ocean Suite midships for this cruise is very reasonable. We just need to wait for her to get the contract in hand and we will rush to select a cabin.

I'm so glad to hear her hubby's with her. I understand totally stealing a car:) Of course, with gas prices now a days, maybe a moped would be better. I do really enjoy San Juan, though!

Penny, You made me laugh. Just a visual of my wife and I on a moped just cracked me up. And when we actually try to book we should look at air first before booking the cruise. If we have to chose I think we go earlier out of San Juan rather than sail out of Miami. I think the Maimi cruises are short. Once we get on board we like to maximize the fun with a 7 or 8 day saililng.

I've been thinking about the air fare thing. AA goes direct from Miami to San Juan. So I was thinking a round trip ticket to Maimi from Boston or Manchester and a 1 way Miami to San Juan. Anybody try something like this. It makes the only 1 way ticket Miami to San Juan. How reliable are these flights. Do I dare do an overnight in Miami and try to fly in to SJ the day of the cruise?

I did price SW Ft Lauderdale 1 way to Manchester. It could be worse, right now about $190 each. Still leaves me 1 way to SJ
