Curacao

OK people...help! Stopping at Curacao...would like to do an excursion....most excursions don't have any reviews....would like to do a tour/shopping etc. Any recommendations?

I haven't been to Curacao in 30 years! All I can remember is how one of my shipmates butchered the name by calling it 'cure-a-cow', plus that the preferred beer of most residents was Amstel. I think they had a brewery on the island.

It's been a long time for me as well (more like 15 years), yet I recall a wonderful shopping area right in town. We didn't do a tour as we had a 3-year old with us, so we just walked around.

If you haven't already, take a look at Cruise Reviews' Curacao Page for ideas for things to do. If you scroll to the bottom, there are reviews of a few excursions. Granted, some are old, yet at least they'll give you a better idea.

Are there specific tours that interest you? Perhaps those who have been to the places the tours stop can help further.

Try Viator.com or Island Experience.com for some nice and affordable Curacao tours..the Hilton charges $10/pp($5for children) to use the beach. If it is your first time I recommend an East/West tour of the Island to get your bearings. Most such tours usually offer a shopping stop. We will be in Curacao in Feb 2013...too late to get you more updated info.

Hello,

My wife and I have been to Curacao three times in the last six years and can tell you that it is one of our favorite ports! We have found the local people to be very friendly and the shopping there is surprisingly good. There is a shopping area very close to where the Adventure docks, but if you can handle walking about a mile, you can take the pedestrian (flotation) bridge across to the main part of town where most of the markets are. So unless you want to see the rest of the Island, I don't know that a tour is necessary.

Thanks so much everyone..I think you are all right....don't necessarily need an excursion on Curacao by the sounds of it....will do excursions on the other stops...
