Booking Cruise
I usually book through a person from Carnival but they usually don't do anything after I book. I was thinking about just booking on-line this time, if I do the Early Saver and pay for it all now, if the price goes down will they give OBC? Just trying to figure out if I should just call like usual or do it myself on-line. Any thoughts?

Booking on-line with Carnival is no different than calling a PVP as far as benefits. Why not try a travel agent? The price is the same as it is booking direct, plus an agent who specializes in cruises will watch the price for you. Plus, a real travel agent might be able to put you into a group booking which means onboard perks could be available.

If you book the Early Saver and the price goes down before final payment they adjust your cruise cost. If it's after final payment then they give OBC up to 48hours before the cruise.

I have also booked through Carnival in the past and have decided to use a travel agent from now on. I also have seen the fare reduce and have tried to get the difference in OBC. I have had no luck and thought that maybe a travel agent might be better at that than me.

It seems to me that the prices don't drop until after final payment which is 70 days prior to the sail date. It just might be better to wait until after the final payment is due to see if the prices will drop. Whatever you decide, I would recommend going through a travel agent that specializes in cruise vacations.

Carnival only offers a price reduction if you booked the "Early Saver Rate" promotion code. The Early Saver Rate has a nonrefundable deposit, but allows for a reduction if price goes down. Their other refundable rates don't allow for a price reduction. That is the trade off between refundable and nonrefundable deposit. The other cruise lines have changed their policies on price reduction also. Royal Caribbean only allows a price reduction if you find a lower cost within 48 hours of booking your cruise. If it is before final payment they will look at deducting the difference off the cost of the cruise. If it's after final payment they would give on board credit.
