Default Fantasy out of Charleston
We are looking for a drivable cruise in Sept and decided Charleston may just fill the bill. It's a place we've never been and it's a reasonable drive, 704 miles. We are looking to take a 5 day cruise and spending a couple days in the city looking at the sites. There is also a 7 day cruise that would fit our schedule. We would drive in the night before and hopefully stay at a hotel providing cruise parking and shuttle service.
We did a B2B cruise on the Fantasy for New Year 2010 out of Mobile. We enjoyed the ship in-spite of the cold weather. We understand the ship has been updated since then.
Any experienced Charleston cruisers who can give us some insight on the city, hotels, etc.? If we remember correctly it seems like there is a member of this forum living either in or near the city.

Hi Keith,

My brother lives in Mt. Pleasant which is across the bridge from Charleston. I suggest you look at the Sleep Inn park and cruise deal.

There is a bit of a war going on between some citizens and businesses in Charleston and Carnival. Paul Motter wrote about it here.

Wink
Yes, we read a little bit about this. I guess we would be bucking tradition as we would visit the city prior to boarding our cruise and Rita does love to shop!

Old Charleston is quite compact, safe, and easy to walk around, which is good because finding a parking spot can be a problem.
