Ok I am confused because I thought you were not allowed to take booze or wine on board and yet people talk about stopping at the duty free before boarding and then taking it in their carryon, and no one says anything. Is this right or were they just lucky?

All I can say is that our official policy in this forum is to support the cruise line rules. Carnival allows one 750ml bottle of wine per adult to be brought aboard at embarkation. Anyone doing more than what the rules allow is doing so at their own peril.

You can see the Carnival rules here

It is also our forum policy to close threads once the question is answered, or if the thread is likely to invite suggestions on ways to break the rules. So I'll close this one before it gets into the badlands.
