St Thomas To St. Johns-Best Way

We want to go to St. John's when we are in St Thomas and want to know the best way to get there. Which ferry is closest to the port? How long does it take to get there from the ship ?

Here's the thing: the ferry from Charlotte Amalie is closer to Havensight (the port) but only has a few ferries per day and it takes about 45 minutes for the ferry run. Red Hook is about a 30 minute taxi ride away from the port but is only a 20 minute ferry run to St. John. Plus, the Red Hook ferries run hourly both ways after a certain time (I think after 9am they become hourly). Thus, you have more leeway at Red Hook.
