Hi- I have never been on a cruise to the carribean. I have sailed with Carnival 4 times, but to Mexico all four times. So I'm not sure what season and month is best to travel to the Carribean, but also want to travel during a month with good low rates, not summer. I was thinking in Feb or March. Does anyone know what weather will be like. I was looking at cruise trip for 4 days to ports of Key West and Cozemuel
Here's the thing about short cruises in February and March...some of the cruises coincide with spring breaks for many colleges and high schools. It can be a regional thing and you'll know it if you look at pricing and availability for a specific cruise.
Weather in the Caribbean is really static for the most part and other than the daytime high temperatures varying, it really isn't that much different in March or May, or October.
Cozumel is probably the most popular Caribbean port for most cruisers.
The least expensive times to cruise usually are the end of August/beginning of September, and the 2-3 weeks before Christmas. Sometimes there are low rates during the first two weeks of January as well.
we have cruised for several yr in Feb and never had a problem with spring break, but there is no way unless it is given to me free that I would cruise anytime in march because of the spring breakers.
It has finally dawned on me over the past year that I am no longer 30-40ish, and I really don't like putting up with the activities one sees on a cruise full of college kids. I don't fault them but it is nothing more than disruptive to me now that I am on the cusp of being 60ish.
We have cruised every February for the past several years and have never had a problem with the youngsters. We have been very fortunate with great weather also.
By the way Dave, Papa58 is now 60
