Lightbulb Southern caribbean ports
My husband and I are going on the Valor in April out of San Juan Puerto Rico. Ports of call are St Thomas, Barbados, St Lucia, St Kitts & St Maarten. We went on this same cruise with a couple different islands a few years ago on RCCL and had a great time. We are all about the great beaches. We are looking for the best beaches in St Lucia, St Kitts & St Thomas. And maybe There is something better than the beach on one of these islands. (Can't imagine anything better than the beach with a chair/umbrella great music and rum punch) but I am game for anything.. We are also staying in Puerto Rico 2 days before the cruise.. Any ideas..

To me those stops are for beaches mostly. Magens Bay being the most popular on St. Thomas, but to me it is better to take the ferry to St. John. Look here.

Doing the Bacardi tour in San Juan is popular, as is simply wandering around old San Juan and the fort. Tons of old architecture to check out. Great food too. Lechon!

If you're looking for something different, Barbados has a museum of the Concorde aircraft, complete with a climb into the Concorde that's sitting in the museum. There's a movie, light show projected onto the side of the plane, and lots of history and artifacts.

St Kitt's has the best and most complete colonial British fort/museum I have even seen. Brimstone Hill Fortress. There is not much beach life to go to on St Kitts so if you are into that sort of thing, its a must. It amazes me to think they built such a huge stone structure way up there on a mountain. The views are incredible too. You can just get off the ship and walk to the right behind the shops at the end of the pier and there is a taxi pick area. You can take a taxi or arrange a "tour guide" Ours took us to the Fort and drove us around to see what sights there are for a good price.

Unfortunately they removed Dominica from this itinerary. That island had some amazing non beach sights.. The twin falls, the steam geysers...

I am a big fan of sitting on a beautiful beach all day! I cruised on Victory, close to the same itinerary. There are so many great beaches. Megans Bay was very beautiful. On the St. Kitts stop we changed our minds at the last minute on where to go. I wish I could remember the name of the beach we went to. They advertised at the terminal and caught our attention. On the beach they have a large pig that lays in the shade all day! We got some great pictures with the kids! They also had a monkey and a goat in a pen together, the kids had so much fun trying to feed the goat because the monkey would take everything from the goat. They still talk about it. I wish I could remember the name of the beach, maybe someone else has been there?
