Hey all, there are rumors all over the internet that the Carnival Magic will do the Trans-Atlantic from Barcelona on October 28th, 2011 and end in Galveston November 13th. At this hour I cannot confirm this with Carnival. I was told the following sailing was a Western Caribbean though.
I expect an *Official* announcement very soon concerning the Magic's home port.
They have delayed making an announcement for a while now. I honestly don't know when it will be. I'd rather wait for the official word than begin all kinds of speculation. I can confirm there is a cruise scheduled for October 28th 2011. It has an "Admin Lock" on it according to a senior Carnival support agent, not a PVP. From what I've heard it was accidentally released then closed. I guess I'm spreading rumors by saying that which I don't like to do.
Though it would make sense for the sail date to be in their system with an "Admin Lock" on it if that happened. That would be a "helluva" crossing all the way to Galveston if it proves to be true. They often end in New York and do a few runs from there before going to their home port.
They are definitely getting the internet cruise forums abuzz with this delay and system faux pas. Come on Carnival tell us "Officially" where our Magic will be already!
I was pretty sure it was going to happen from doing some investigating. Pretty sure doesn't always make it a fact though. So I waited for this.
I spoke face to face with a Senior Carnival person about this yesterday in Charleston. When they say "real" soon, I know that is code for the 24-48 hour time frame in most cases as proved again with this one.
This is awesome news. With them adding this much capacity to Galveston and New Orleans in a short time frame it should make those cruises pretty affordable.
Penny, prices are already out. It depends what date you look at of course, since it's coming out near the Thanksgiving holiday and then entering the Christmas holidays season. A December sailing starting at about $711 for an inside cabin isn't too bad. Especially for a brand new ship. I think that's competitive with other cruise lines.
