Sonny, the answer would likely be "we are sorry you feel that way"! I get an industry newsletter (it costs me $$$) and they put out a special edition today. It said bookings so far were not being affected by the Triumph and they had talked to several large cruise booking outlets.
The feeling is the media hype will peak over tomorrow and over the weekend and then be largely a page 10 story.

I think it's just a "canned" response to what a lot of people are asking. This incident will defitnely have some negative effect to the industry overall for the short term. There have been to many unrelated occurrences that will deter some newcomers from booking although the seasoned cruisers will be taking advantage of any price drop so it might be a wash by next years season.
I was onboard the Carnival Triumph in 2007. It was a 7-Day Eastern Caribbean cruise: round trip from Miami to Half-Moon Cay, St. Thomas, San Juan, and Grand Turk. It was a wonderful expierience. I guess those were better times onboard the ship. I hope everyone returns from this cruise unharmed. I don't think this will have a negative effect on Carnival, or the cruise industry, as much as the Costa Concordia sinking did.
When reading about this and watching CNN you have to wonder if all these passengers were on the same ship. One passenger on the last day tells how he had a Crab & lobster sandwich for lunch and there was no stortage of food and then you read how some passengers were down to eating ketsup on buns and just candy? What do you believe? One paper said they were forced to sleep in raw sewage.

I'm sure some of the conditions were as they described but if I were thinking about suing for additional dollars I don't think I'd get it on camera as being not so bad.
There had to be "something" to eat although it might not have been a hot meal as originally promised especially when there was additional food & water supplies dropped off & they were in communications with the Coast Guard & other Carnival ships.
I was wondering why they didn't provide Military MRE's which would have been a lot easier to distribute.
I can't wait to read what there complaints were to justify a lawsuit especially since they were made whole + $500 cash per person. Some people feel the need to be compensated extra no matter what the situation.
Even most of the well-known cruise lawyers are saying 'get over it' and 'just take the offer Carnival is making'. They are smart enough to see this won't go far. The poor little darling who has filed already is 25 yrs old, and has no idea what a really bad situation can be. Reading the lawsuit, you'd think she was forced to tread water in a septic tank for 5 days while fishbait was tossed to her.
