snorkelling in st. thomas

Hi there, has anyone done snorkelling in St. Thomas....can you recommend one of the excursions....there seem to be 2 that look good...Castaway Barefoot sail and snorkel to Shipwreck Cove and the other is Captain Nautica's Ultimate Snorkel Expedition....not sure which one to book....thanks for any input...

Sandylynn- I have been snorkeling in St Thomas many times. Although I can't say I have ever been on any of those excursions. We normally just do it on our own. We get off the ship, grab a cab or a bus to Redhook and then a water taxi from there to St John's. Then you can go to any of their great snorkeling spots (Trunk Bay being the most popular). It's not hard to do, but I would understand if someone didn't want to risk doing it on their own.

I would recommend finding an excursion that goes to Trunk bay (never been to ship wreck cove) and or one that picks you up and drops you off from the cruise dock (this saves time in transport)

If you want more details on doing this on your own. I can help.

Hi Jim, thanks so much for your input....I hear what you are saying....however the person is doing the excursion by themself...no one in the group wants to snorkel....myself..personally....would stick to booking through carnival..don't want to risk a nightmare of not returning ontime for whatever reason....hopefully someone will respond who has done either of these excursions....the reviews do look good...thanks a bunch Jim

Yes.. if this is a single then they definitely want to book through the ship so that there are others both to travel wife and to be snorkeling with. Much like a dive buddy, you never want snorkel alone.
