Default Arison No Longer CEO Of Carnival Corporation
Micky Arison is leaving the post of Chief Executive Officer for Carnival Corporation & plc. He will remain as Chairman Of The Board. The press release says he has been planning to do this for a while. I wonder if it got fast tracked after the stack of events made Arison a lightning rod, especially after the 'Nero fiddled while Rome burned' image of him at a Miami Heat game while the Triumph was being towed to Mobile?

I think it was a little bit petty of the media to make a big deal about that. Adam Goldstein President of RCI, went out to the Grandeur of the Seas, but no one asked where about Richard Fain CEO of RCCL (Mickey's equivalent).

It was a cheap shot for sure by the press. The logistics were a key factor too. Grandeur was just a 20 minute flight from Miami for Goldstein, and was docked. It would not have been as easy for Carnival brass to get aboard Triumph. But the press played it up and a lot of the public did as the press wanted and showed up with pitchforks and torches on the various social media sites.

A lot of the recent moves by Carnival are either fully or partially based on public relations improvements. Hiring a retired Coast Guard Captain to oversee safety. I think they hired a retired Navy Admiral to direct fleet operations. Good people for the jobs on any day but their credentials bring 'gravitas'.
