Carnival Simplifies Fare Structure

Carnival has dropped three fare categories based on feedback from the travel agent community. Press Release

Well I am sure that will help, but did they change the policy of paying commission on Early Saver fares base don the final price or the original booking price? It seems really unfair to me to take commission away from the TA every time they reduce the fare. After all the TA must then do MORE work to submit for the price reductions and then they see their income drop doing it. I would bet that was a bigger sticking point with the travel agents than having 6 fare types...

An agent who posts on Cruisemates calls the change laughable: "...when you add the past guest, resident rates, senior rates, military rates, 2 interline rates, 2 or 3 promotional codes, plus the various group fare codes there are still anywhere from 9 to 17 fare codes we have to deal with".

I guess we'll soon hear about the commission question.

I heard a rumour today that they may be making changes in the MDR
It's said that possibly in the future they may not have couples/small groups sitting with people they have not met before. I'm not sure if this is with traditional dining only or with anytime dining as well.
Has anyone else heard about this or is it just a false rumour ?

I heard that John Heald alluded to such a change recently but I don't follow his blog.
