We are booked on Rivera deck aft on Fantasy. Is the engine noise very loud or any other concerns. Have always been mid or near top deck. Thanks!

I've never been in an aft Riviera cabin either. I've been in an aft cabin on the Main deck before and don't recall a lot of noise. I could feel vibration from the thrusters when we left ports though.

We have stayed AFT on many of the Fantasy class ships...but it is usually Main or Upper.

I would not think one deck would make a big difference in noise.

You have the crew area underneath you....

I actually tried to google the location of the engines on the Fantasy and couldn't find any specific info. I'm not an expert googler though. I know the funnel shaft should be somewhere between port cabin R190 and starboard cabin R185.

I think the loudest ship noise I ever heard was in a porthole cabin on a Fantasy class ship when they dropped the anchor. I was wide awake after that. No complaints about it, we were at Grand Cayman and I wanted to get an early start anyway.

Thanks everyone. I knew that I would probably hear anchor noise which like you said that will be okay as we will want to get up and start our day. Just didn't know if I should bring earplugs because of engine noice. I have sure we will be just fine! Glad we are cruising!!

While you might feel some vibrations you shouldnt hear any engine noises. To me the vibs are soothing and lets you know you are on a ship.

Exactly. I like to hear the rumble of the exhaust through the stack and feel and smell things that remind me that I am on a vessel at sea. Perhaps the Machinists Mate in me from my Navy life (post-Marine).

Yes, I like that too. The last time we were on the Fantasy we were "delayed" on the Mississippi. There was a deafening silence if you know what I mean. My wife nor I could sleep until the engines cranked back up which was not until, best I remember, about 3:00 a.m.

The people in the hallways are the problem, slamming doors at 5-6 am. Come on, be considerate, some of use like to sleep in !
