The Carnival Dream made three attempts to dock this morning in San Juan. It was just too big. The lifeboats would have been damaged John Heald said. They tried two other piers, one wouldn't work, and the other one there was a draft issue according to reports.

Apparently someone didn't measure something.

This was a one time stop for the Dream in San Juan on it's 9 day Florida Inaugural cruise. The port is not on the Dream's regular rotating itineraries departing from Port Canaveral.

Wow. I feel badly for the pax. To have experienced that most marvelous approach and then not be able to get off must have been extremely disappointing. (Or, did they tender?)

No they didn't tender. I was told it was a Fun Sea Day, and they would get to Grand Turk tomorrow earlier than scheduled.

UhOh!!! Somebody didn't do his homework -I'll bet a fly on the wall in the CEO's office heard some interesting remarks!!! Fortunately, if there's a problem with the draft a bit of dredging can resolve that!!!!!

I bet they did! The cruise has about 600 Platinum guests aboard, with John Heald hosting his Bloggers on the cruise. Oops!

Even John Heald can't come up with enough guffaws and quips to dismiss this event. This is basic stuff they should have known months ago.

However, if their stop in San Juan was like most of ours have been, nobody really missed anything. LOL

Tn posted Monday night...going on his Platinum cruise!

I agree, they should have known about this months ago. I bet they get this fixed in a jiffy in case the Dream or Magic ever needs to port there for emergency reasons.

Hey Dave! just been working like a dog! With Mobile and New Orleans getting more capacity, I can see Elation in our future when she arrvies, but more than likely around Halloween. All our free time in the summer is spent cruising on our boat...when you're in Nashville, let us know and you can go with us sometime!
