Thanks for clarifying... I had a feeling that was it. There was a package available for the days we were staying. I don't know if it's seasonal, so, I'd definitely suggest double-checking this when booking.
Mobile's a great city. I'm glad we spent some time there.
We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott on Airport Drive, which is about 11 miles from cruise terminal. They let us park for free, the cost of the room was $99 and the taxi ride was about $25 each way including tip. Sounds like pricing for this vs. the cruise and park is about the same, but just wanted to give you an option in case the others are booked.
Thanks everyone for your input...went with Microtel Inns & Suites 9miles from port & new from what I read. 1124 Shelton Beach Road, Saraland, AL 36571. This hotel offered a Park & Cruise package; 1 night's stay, free breakfast, shuttle to & from port, and not to forget FREE parking. Price was 136.99 w/tax. Will let you know when I return if the hotel is worth it.

My wife and I have reservations at the Saraland Microtel for the 15 January 2011, Elation cruise.
There is a Wintzell's Oyster House very close to the Microtel. Try it out, they have some pretty good food there and an excellent bread pudding. Unique decor too.

Hi Ouachita, welcome to Cruise-Chat! Congratulations on your up-coming cruise! I've heard Wintzell's is great. Does the Saraland Microtel have free parking, too?
We stayed at the Renaissance and ate there because it was convenient. However, next time, I'd like to try some other places that maybe aren't quite as pricey

We have cruised out of Mobile a couple of times and we always stay at the Holiday Inn Bellengrath. Shuttle service to and from and they let you park in their lot for N/C. No breakfast included but if you are priority club member you get a discount on the buffet. Last time we used them I think rate was $115. They are super nice people.
