Benefit of Lido over Empress Balcony Staterooms

Just booked Triumph Balcony Stateroom on Empress Deck for 10/23 sailing. The same room on Lido is aprox $100 more. Other than being on same deck of pool, am I missing something else by not spending the additional money for the supposed "upgrade?"

We were in a category 8D on the Lido Deck. It was advantageous because we could walk to the pool and buffet area and not have to use steps or wait on elevators. Plus, the forward elevator bank was right there near our cabin so we could go straight down and be at the Capitol Bar, the main dining room, and the main show room. Of course, the cat. 8 cabins on Upper Deck near the front elevators also had the same logistics for the evening.

I was lazy on that cruise!

I have had both floors with balconies and sometimes it has been worth it and other times if we had really noisy neighbors it wasn't worth it and would have been happy to move to a lower floor. We have had other times it was nice to not have other people above us. As long as your booked and have a balcony is should all be good

I would say to save the extra $100, unless money isn't a factor to you. The empress deck is fine, just means the use of elevators and stairs more often. We are cruising on 5/22 (hopefully, depending on the oil spill situation) and we have a balcony on the Lido deck, which we have never stayed on before. We are really hoping we like this deck.

Being a cheapo I doubt I would pay the $100 per person extra. I would prefer on the Empress deck near the mid ship elevators. That's just me though.

Go Lido - we have been on Destiny 3 times and on the Lido deck all three times - definately worth the money. So close to the pool, chairs, food and you can run back to your room in a jiffy ESPECIALLY if you have kids or teenagers with you

Have had balcony cabin on both decks. Love the Lido, as it is a shorter hallway and thus less people come through and it is not a "long raceway" for children to run on! LOL

Looks like we're staying put on Empress, since a large number of friends are joining us and also booked on that floor. Thanks for the input and at least this way, I can save $100 and get some additional needed exercise! Now, fingers crossed that the oil situation in the gulf gets resolved, or at least doesn't get any worse to affect Port of New Orleans.

nothing wrong of being a ceapoo dwayne.. Sometimes I rather go 2 cruises and be interior room than pay for the price of 1 balcony on 1 cruise...

That's how I roll er cruise too!

I'll be in my inside cabin and perfectly happy. Besides the accommodations are only half of it for me. I have the bar tab and casino to budget.
