Substituting a stuffed mushroom cap for escargot is tantamount to substituting Cold Duck for Dom Perignon.
Doc -How about Moet & Chandon for a substitution??

Is that an attempt at a trick question?? Moet and Chandon bottle Dom Perignon. It's an alcohol infused lateral move.

Doc - Don't you just love those "alchohol infested lateral moves"? I'm just tryin' to keep smiles on our faces whilst our beloved cruiselines find ways to cutback!

My mother always told me I could be very trying!!

I remember an All In The Family episode where Archie was getting ready to have a guy "with taste" over for a visit. He had found an empty Pinch scotch bottle and was filling it with rot gut scotch he'd bought. "He won't know the difference. All scotch tastes like iodine."

[quote]Sadly , last year on the Destiny it seamed to me that they cut down on variety a great deal, the two small buffets by the pools only served hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers every day.[quote]

The buffets on the outside by the pool have always been light quick food of hotdogs, hamburgers, chicken, and fries. It is on the inside of the Lido restaurant where you will find buffets with the variety of hot foods, salads, deli sandwiches, stir fry, 24hour pizza, and desserts. The deli sandwiches and stir fry stations are on all Carnival ships now.

[quote]Any one else been on a recent cruise that still served Escargot? [quote]

I have been informed by a Carnival official that was just on the CCL Glory that she had escargot.

Wahoo maybe I just happened to be on a cruise that didn't? I hope they are not planning on doing away with it and we were just a "test bed" to see if anyone complained....

Jim,
Word has it that Carnival doesn't want to make cut backs in places that really matter to people. And food is something that really matters. It's part of their image change that they having been going through for several years now. They want to "WOW" the first time cruiser and keep them coming back. This is why you still see lobster on every sailing on CCL. Even on a 2nt cruise.
