I just recieved an email from carnival saying that they are going to change my cruise itinerary on Carnival Victory. Now they will be going to st. Martin insted of Antigua
the new itinerary will be
Sunday San Juan
monday St Thomas
tuesday Dominica
wed Barbados
thurs st Lucia
friday st.Kitts
saturday St. Martin
The email says is affective from January 3 2010 I was looking on their site in order to check for other dates but so far I cannot book a new date, I was looking fo the 4 of july cruise, probably they are changing it for future cruises.
So If you are book on carnival victory, so you know, this will probably affect you and they will send you soon a notification...
Congratulations, Cas! I really like Antigua better than St. Martin, but that's just me. Don't get me wrong St. Martin is pretty, but I found Antigua more interesting.
Hmmm.. I'm not sure that is good news or not Cas. Part of the draw of that cruise itinerary for me was the ports you don't get to see normally. St Martin is on sooo many of the cruises now, I think its a shame to lose Antigua.
I wonder if they are changing because of the whole ordeal with those cruise passengers? I would hate to believe that one group of tourists could ruin things for everyone else but I'm sure its possible. I would also think that Antigua would be stupid to lose the tourism dollars over something like this too.

It looks like they have changed all the sail dates after that. Cas, the July 4th cruise is showing changed to St. Maarten as well. I don't know exactly why they did this.
After reading the article that Dave linked to, the comments seem to be that the locals are worried that Carnival will pull out of Antigua. It would definitely be a blow to their fragile economy. Of course, ours isn't in the best shape either. I sure hope that Antigua isn't taken off of the ports.
I understand your point but in my case is a good change.
I have been on this route 3 times already and I am tired of Antigua also My last tour there was not what I paid for but that's another story (bad tour guide)
Remember that I live on the caribbean a Beach day, what is mostly the tours options in Antigua, are not important in my case I can only visit nelson dock yard in the island and I already done that...
Also I have only been one time on st. Martin and was on a RCCL and it was awsome actually was the best part of my cruise and I'll like to get back there but since I don't cruise with RCCl anymore this news is really great for us.
