I just checked some rates and WOW!! They have gone up 10-30 percent. Even the dates during the peak hurricane season are much higher than I have seen in a long time.. mainly the 7 day cruise are going up higher in the 30percent range.. Hope carnival doesnt out price me for next years cruise.. the economy has a LONG way to go
We just booked a 7 day Western Caribbean out of Galveston for May 1, 2011, on the early saver rate. I compared the "per day" cost from 5 years ago and it came to the exact price as we are booked for now. For our particular cruise, we are happy that our rates have not increased. Hope they go down and we can get on-board credits . but if not, at least we are locked in!
I noticed the rate increases for hurricane season too. It is simply based on supply and demand. The rates have been pretty low for a long time. I'm using the Early Saver Rate for my cruise and it is about the same as it was last year for the regular rate for a similar cruise. I guess we've been spoiled the last while with low rates. The days of giving up Fun Ship cruising are long gone for me. I have to feed this addiction, even if I have to save and scrimp more throughout the year. They've got me hooked, line and sinker. I'm like the Dad in Carnival's commercial.
I just repriced a cruise for the Meditteranean aboard the upcoming CCL Magic and was sorry to learn the price had increased for the same stateroon by 28%. No problemo....I booked the NCL Epic instead for less!! CCL loses on this one!!!

I guess you just made it in under the wire since NCL is raising their rates also on April 2nd. Princess has announced price increases also.

Yes, I did...when I saw the amount of the increases I moved quickly to secure a berth on board. I'm covered for cruising now into early 2012. The bargains are quickly disappearing thruout the cruise industry! Not a happy trend at all!!!
