well we just got back from the Valor,and as usual we had a great time! There is only one thing that i wish Carnival would do like NCL. Have hand sanitizers eveywhere. Someone brought a nasty cold with them and by the time the cruise was over alot of people was hacking and sneezing including myself.. by day 5 I had it. I always wash alot while on the ship but i think i got it in the buffet line. they need to do what NCL does,everyone gets sprayed right before you get in line.
Carnival puts out hand sanitizers at the entry to the dining rooms and at various points around the lido deck buffet areas, but they are not as militant about it as NCL was. While I'm sure that hand washing helps, in your case, some sneezing and coughing in confined spaces or worse yet on the buffet line it is not going to help much.
People with head colds need to be very careful and realize that not everyone wants to share. But unfortunately, there are too many people who just don't care about anyone but themselves.

you are right! i saw countless sneezing without covering mouth.people are so rude and seem they dont care who gets.. sneeze in your elbow people. A cold in the carribean is a sad thing to have.
They had the Purell touch free sanitizer dispensers at the buffet lines that Jim mentioned on my last cruise. Probably not going to help when people are sneezing close to you though. I caught an awful bug on a cruise a few years ago. One of my cruise friends caught it too. We were hacking by the 5th day of the cruise as well.
They were giving the Emergen-C samples in the gift "shell" that year. I asked my cabin steward to bring me a bunch of cranberry ones, and he did. I still coughed for days after I got back. People need to cover their mouth when sneezing and coughing. It's a natural reaction for me to do it. Well maybe not natural, I would get whacked when I was a kid if I didn't. Rude people..what can you do?
LHP, I'm glad you did wipe down the mics. The staff should really have done that for you and I'm surprised they didn't. I cannot believe that guy said he wasn't contageous. Was he a doctor? Of course, his bugs are in his phlegm, what was he thinking? Good for you!

The only reason Kim *the karaoke host did not do it is because I beat him to it. LOL
We have cruised alot together and he considers me his karaoke assistant. LOL
He knew I always bring wipes from the casino to use on the karaoke microphones. Carnival actually does not supply the karaoke host with anything like that.
