Less than 2 weeks from now, I will be going on a 7-Day cruise on the Carnival Legend. I plan to bring along my laptop, and use the Wi-Fi onboard the ship to send emails. Those emails may include photos taken during the cruise, and will say: "Wish you were here?""Are you sorry you told me that could not go?"
Anyway, I was wondering if there is a printer onboard in the Internet Café? There is a chance I may wish to print out a page or two. It is much easier for me to create a letter on a computer than handwriting it. Even if they charge me allot for printing a page, I would be willing to do it.
Internet prices are not cheap. The connections are not the fastest. You might want to have all your emails composed and ready to send prior to logging on. Also make sure you reduce your image file size, large files will cost you $.
Yes, Gdjoslin, I will definetly have my email message ready before I log on to the ships Wi-Fi network. I am a master of the Copy and Paste commands Thank you for telling me to reduce the file size of the photos too. That I will do if I email photos.
I forgot to mention why I would rather type and print a message on the computer, rather than hand write a message:
Have any of you ever tried to write a letter onboard during your cruise while the ship is in motion? Especially when the seas are a little rougher than usual? I did, and it did not look pretty.
We just got back and had taken our computer to stay in touch with our work while we were away. We purchased 100 minutes for 55.00 not counting tax. It is slow and even if you just check email you will average at least 10 minutes per session just to get on and keep it short.
Another thing you should know that we did not, is that they shut the internet down the night before you get off the ship and there is NO REFUNDS on any minutes not used. We were not told that and had saved some of our time to use the last day to track our flight and contact people the last day, which didn't happen.
That is strange. We have always used the net the night before. On HAL (Vandaam and Zandaam) and Carnival (Spirit and Pride). Seems like we even check it one morning for flights, but now sure about that.
I guess it's like the casino, they have to make sure everything is billed out. However, it would seem that you should be able to use minutes you'd already paid for. Thank you for letting us know, lifeisgd. I try to stay away from every electronic device that could possibly remind me of work or cause me to be in contact with work
